Ground-breaking ceremony: construction works has started in wind farm Luko
Dresden/ Freiberg/Luko, 28th of March 2017. Recently, the building work for the wind farm has started. Today the ground-breaking ceremony was realised by the VSB, Sabowind and GE Wind Energy. Until September all twelve wind turbines are going to produce green energy.
The cutover of the energy supply of Saxony-Anhalt marches on. One part of this change towards green energy is the wind farm in Luko near the city Dessau-Roßlau. In December of 2016 Sabowind GmbH received, in cooperation with VSB Neue Energien Deutschland GmbH, the permission from the district of Wittenberg (Saxony-Anhalt) to erect and operate twelve wind energy turbines of the type GE 2.5-120. To get this permission a compromise with the Ministry of Culture of Saxony-Anhalt was struck up. “We made the necessary adjustments to save World Cultural Heritage status of the Gartenreich Dessau-Wörlitz”, explained Dr. Rainer Sack, CEO of the Sabowind GmbH. “Now the wind turbines have a total height of 180 meters and keep the Gartenreich Dessau-Wörlitz, which is 10 kilometre off, unaffected” told Markus Brogsitter, CEO of the VSB Neue Energien Deutschland GmbH.
The preparatory measures will be finished until the end of March 2017. Afterwards the foundations for the 120 meters high towers will be poured. The tower segments will be delivered by the regional company AMBAUS located in Gräfenhainichen. If everything runs according to plan, we can start with the construction of the towers in July, so the wind turbines can start operation in September this year”, explained Arne Ricking, Project Manager of the GE Wind Energy GmbH. The 30 Megawatt wind farm can produce green energy for 30,000 households.
The erection of wind turbines is subject to approval according to the Pollution Control Act. Before such a permit is granted, the applicant has to prove in a lengthy action that the planned construction is consistent with the existing nature conservation and pollution control law. Interferences with nature and landscape have to be counterbalanced with appropriate measures. Thus, at the edge of the town Luko a big hedge and flowered areas will be laid out. This reduces the sight to the wind farm and creates new habitats for birds and insects. Furthermore, two old sheds with a total area of 1000 m² near Jeber-Bergfrieden will be tore down. Following this, native groves will be planted on the whole area. Also the old waterworks in Buro will be knocked down and an area for water infiltration accrues. The total costs of compensation measures amounts to 350,000 Euro. To increase the local added value, local companies will be instructed with the implementation of these tasks.
Afterwards, the technical and financial management of the wind farm is provided by VSB Group and Sabowind Service GmbH.
