Repowering results in 60 times as much power

We repower two existing turbines in Thuringia and Saxony for our current wind energy projects Tanna and Melaune.
The first turbine, a 1992 model, is one of the oldest in Saxony and is located in the community of Sohland am Rotstein within the district Goerlitz. The turbine of the type Ventis 20-100 with two rotor blades, 30 m hub height and 100 kW rated capacity produces 150.000 kWh per year and will be replaced by a turbine of the latest generation with the highest hub height in Saxony so far. The new turbine is located in the priority area for wind power “Melaune”, 11 km away from the existing turbine. The start of operation of the new turbine Enercon E101 with 149 m hub height and a rated capacity of 3050 kW is planned for the end of September. In comparison to the old turbine the E101 will produce 60 times as much regenerative power per year.
The second turbine of the type Vestas V44 with 53 m hub height will be removed in the Thuringi-an district Saale-Orla-Kreis. The 600 kW-turbine that was erected in 1996 in the community of Gefell is being replaced by a 3-MW-turbine of the aforementioned type in the priority area for wind power “Tanna”. With a predicted yield of 7.5 Mio. kWh the new turbine with 200 m total height will produce eight times as much power as the existing one.
These two projects prove again the sustainability and cost efficiency of wind energy. By the regu-lated erection of new turbines in designated priority areas for wind power in connection with the repowering bonus, it is possible to disassemble the two old turbines completely, which are locat-ed outside of designated priority areas for wind power.
