When it comes to the construction and operation of wind turbines, Sabowind puts a great deal of energy into finding and planning suitable compensation measures, which we implement together with the community to try to compensate for impacts right in the local area. The final agreement on compensation measures is then made with the nature conservation authorities. From unsealing of soils to planting of vegetation to the creation of naturalistic wetlands, no measure is off limits for enhancing the natural landscape and offering ecological added value for animals and nature.

We bring your projects to fruition.
Compensation measures include the following focal points
Natural landscape
- Structuring and enhancing the natural landscape
- Planting vegetation to create new refuges and feeding habitats for insects, birds and small mammals
Species conservation
- Creating new habitats by compensating for lost nesting areas
- Contributing to bird conservation
Soil
- Restoration of sealed areas
- Disposal of contaminated soils
- Reclamation of areas for nature conservation
Selected compensation projects
Construction of a natural pond

Building the first Sabowind turbine at wind farm Bernsdorf/Gersdorf was compensated by the construction of a natural pond in Erlbach-Kirchberg.
The 3.000 m2 water body was laid out on areas of organic farm Biohof Vogel next to an existing pond, that is also a conservation area, and hence functional connected to it. The complex of water bodys together with copses as well as numerous farm roads accompanied by hedges and trees contribute to a compartmentalized structuring of the surrounding extensively managed fields. A perfect example of harmonic togetherness of nature conservation and human utilization.
