Leipzig/Freiberg, 15th of May 2017. The "KinderAgra" belongs to the agriculture exposition "Agra" in Leipzig, which took place from the 4th to the 7th of May. In line with this event Sabowind asked some pre- and primary school kids at the age between 5 and 9 years what they think about wind energy.
We had something to offer for the kids - our future of tomorrow. Together with the child magazine "AgrarKids" we composed an article with the following title: "Dem Wind geht nie die Puste aus" - "the wind never runs out of steam". A survey of 67 pupils shows, that children are interested in power generation and are often more informed, than adults suppose.
Especially the answers to the question about possibilities of power generation were impressing. Out of 67 children only one named the nuclear power and two the coal power. All the others were talking about renewable energy types. The answers reached from power out of solar plates, potatoes, the earth, wind and water.
In the view of wind power, we were particularly interested in the children’s opinion of wind energy plants. Only one child felt disturbed cause "It is so loud, if you are standing right under it." The others (66 out of 67 children) are happy when they see wind energy plants in the landscape.
There were many answers to the question, why the children like seeing the plants so much:
"If you are standing right under the plant and look up, the blade is spinning straight towards me. That is great!" (Florentine, 9 years old)
"Because they are making electricity. My parents could not work without it." (Gertrud, 9 years old)
The agriculture exposition "Agra" takes place every two years on 120.000 m² on the fairground in Leipzig. Sabowind participated with an information booth and checked the land properties of land owners if they are suitable for a wind energy plant. Together with the magazine AgrarKids an article about the acceptance of wind energy will be issued in the edition of August 2017.
