On 30.05.2013 our "4GeWind" team was on the starting line for the fifth REWE Team Challenge in Dresden, ready to run for a good cause. The team of four from eab Projektmanagement GmbH in Freiberg joined almost 9,000 runners to complete a fantastic run.
Despite the poor weather, the starting pistol for the 5km run – which was completely booked out – was fired at the Kulturpalast in Wilsdruffer Straße at 8 pm. The runners continued through the historic old town of Dresden, passing the Zwinger, the Semperoper and the Hofkirche. Undeterred by the persistent rain, rhythmic drummers spurred on the 8,264 runners from more than 900 firms as they ran along the route. Our team ran to the finish on the pitch at the Glücksgas Stadium with an aggregate time for all four runners of 01:43:14. As occasional runners, this put them in an impressive 370th place out of a total of 567 teams in the men's team category.
In the individual times, our best runner actually achieved a time of 00:21:42, putting him in 783rd place out of a total of 5,154 in the men's category. Congratulations from eab Projektmanagement GmbH to all four of our colleagues on their fantastic run and a great result!
The entry fees for all participants in the REWE Team Challenge amounted to 4,500 euro, which was donated after the race to SPIKE, a social institution in Dresden. SPIKE is a charitable organisation that works to stabilise social situations, supports the implementation of self-defined objectives and tries to sustain development opportunities.
